This exciting young string quartet has been making waves in the San Francisco Bay area and beyond with their cutting edge programming and exhilarating performances. Praised by the S.F. Examiner for their “energetic gusto” and “wit,” the Friction Quartet is becoming known for their genre crossing collaborations with innovators in dance, film, spoken word, and technology. Their program will feature the world premiere of a new work called Lake by Erik DeLuca which incorporates film into the performance. Much of this composer’s work has emerged from field work he has been involved with as a Composer-In-Residence for the U.S. National Park Service. Also on the program is Beethoven’s bracingly dramatic Quartet in C Minor, Opus 18, No.2 and the always delicious Debussy String Quartet.
